D e a r V i s i t o r :
I would like to tell you a few words about myself as a musician — about what I do and why I do just that. I felt a deep need for music to become an integral part of my life at an early age, and it was not much later that I also felt the need to share my love of music with others by teaching music. To learn about my pianistic journey, please visit the Biography section of this website; here, I will skip the details in favor of expressing the main idea.
As a young piano student, I used to practice hard, yet I always enjoyed my practice time. That was largely because my teacher would always listen to my opinion when choosing repertoire for me. It is very important that a person plays those works of music which “speak” to his or her heart and mind. I always try to make sure that my students enjoy the pieces they play. As time goes by, many of my students gain the ability to understand and enjoy a wider variety of musical works.
Piano playing cannot be properly taught without a simultaneous introduction of the ideas behind it. The study of basic music theory and an introduction to the history of music as a great art is never left out of my lessons. No piece is ever learned “blindfolded” — the student finds out about the composer, the style, and any interesting and fun details relevant to the piece.
Lastly, I would like to say that every aspiring pianist, no matter what age, is first and foremost an Individual. That is why my teaching method focuses on highlighting each student’s individual needs to help him or her achieve his or her personal best.
I believe that playing an instrument greatly benefits children and adults alike. For the young, it helps develop many new skills, improves the ability to focus, and teaches to appreciate the beautiful. For adults, music-making can be an irreplaceable source of vital energy that enlivens the daily existence in a remarkable way.
My piano studio is located in Staten Island, New York. I offer piano lessons to students of all ages and levels of ability. I have had experience as an accompanist (collaborative piano) as well, working with vocalists and instrumentalists. If you are interested in studying or working with me, please contact me here.
Thank you for visiting my website!
Sincerely,
Aleksandra
